WhatsApp debuted its second original entertainment project this month with UGO: A Homecoming Story, a documentary exploring the life of NBA star and two-time NBA MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The title is based on Antetokounmpo’s Nigerian birth name, Ugo.
The intimate and moving film follows Antetokounmpo as he takes his first trip to Nigeria, along with his mother Veronica. Together they explore and connect with their family, heritage and the country Veronica left behind over four decades ago. The result is a powerful and heart-felt meditation on self-identity and the power of belonging.
The film, which STALKR sourced and licensed footage for, has garnered significant press online.
