What We’re Watching: The Red Drum Getaway

10 16 2015

If you’re looking for a clever mashup of two of the world’s best filmmakers, you’ve found it at The Red Drum Getaway. It’s one of those rare finds that’s just too good to not share.

Gump TV combined Hitchcock films with some of the collected works of Stanley Kubrick, including The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Eyes Wide Shut, among others to create a beautiful, surreal thriller. As per Hitchcock’s best, Jimmy Stewart represents our hero and Kubrick, through his many films, is the villain.

Directed by Adrien Dezalay, Emmauel Delabaere, Simon Philippe, the film comes out of French creative agency Gump. The film is worth rewatching several times to see if you can spot all of the clever nuances, and just in time for the weekend in which you may now feel inclined to return to the incredible canons of Kubrick or Hitchcock (or both!). Let The Red Drum Getaway be the start to your binge-watch above.
