Adam McKay has launched the climate content company Yellow Dot Studios with ‘Commercial For Big Money’, a brilliantly satirical take on the unregulated banking systems which are fuelling climate change and vast income disparity.
The film is the latest in a series of collaborations between McKay, STALKR and Lost Planet. It’s also the perfect follow-up to his spoof Chevron ad released last September, which notched up more than 4.5 million views in 24 hours alone.
The aim of recently launched Yellow Dot Studios is to produce videos, memes and media specifically to raise public awareness and understanding of the climate emergency and related issues.
McKay spoke with Deadline about his approach.
“Oil companies’ horrible and destructive disinformation created decades of delay in dealing with climate breakdown. Yellow Dot’s goal is to push back, whether that’s through in-house videos, or videos for climate orgs and activist groups, to help get people involved and activated at a rapid pace.”
‘Commercial For Big Money’ was written by McKay, narrated by Joe Hart and produced through Yellow Dot Studios, with footage and clearance handled by STALKR.
