Transparent’s Season 3 Opening Credits

09 27 2016

Our second collaboration with the team at Transparent premiered on Friday.

The opening credits sequence to the critically acclaimed Amazon show once again reflects the current season’s thematic arc. Season three intimately tracks the personal growth of all of the Pfeffermans, and their continued yearning for community and belonging. Authentic home movies from the mid-20th Century Jewish enclave of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles and 1980s and 90s LA trans nightclub and beauty pageants paired with imagery of family bonding, religion, gender, and race issues illuminate the journeys of our complicated heroes.

Lauded for its groundbreaking subject matter, Transparent recently picked up three Emmys this past month. The show has also been honored by the Golden Globes, DGA Awards, Critic’s Choice, and beyond. It’s third season, which premiered in full, is already being lauded by critics and audiences alike, with what the New Republic’s Esther Breger describes as “bold and brazen and transgressive; it’s when Soloway turns her gaze towards stillness, though, that she finds transcendence.”

This is our second year working with the Transparent team. You can read more about season two’s opening credits sequence which incorporated historic moments of gender non-conformity from Berlin’s Weimar Republic, World War II immigrants, and the women’s movement of the 1970s here.
