Asif Kapadia, the Oscar-winning director behind the documentary films Senna, Amy, and Diego Maradona premiered his new film, 2073, at the Venice Film Festival.
Partly inspired by La Jetee, the iconic science fiction featurette, 2073 is a drama-documentary, mixing fact and fiction to devastating effect. Set in a future ravaged by climate change and authoritarian governments, Samantha Morton’s character Ghost conveys that the dystopian world the film presents isn’t simply an abstract concept or a concern for the next generation. It’s happening now, and we must act immediately if we are to avert the disasters that have ravaged Ghost’s world.
STALKR’s long-time collaborator Sam Dwyer worked on the film’s archive and stock footage sections, with STALKRFILM supporting her throughout production on sourcing and licensing key shots. The film has received positive reviews for its bold approach to storytelling and powerful messaging.
