International nonprofit WITNESS celebrates its 25th anniversary with an emotional film highlighting its important work around the globe.
“WITNESS trains and supports activists and citizens around the world to use video safely, ethically, and effectively to expose human rights abuse and fight for human rights change.” In 2012 WITNESS first partnered with STALKR to tell the story of their two decades of human rights advocacy. Using footage from the extensive WITNESS Archive and beyond, we created an award winning video celebrating this important work.
Five years later we have teamed up again and our new film screened at the WITNESS 25 Years of Change event at The Edison Ballroom in New York last week. This inspiring celebration honored WITNESS Co-Founder Peter Gabriel, the Syrian Archive, #BlackLivesMatter Co-Founder Opal Tometi, and Joshua Mailman and Monica Winsor, leaders in social entrepreneurship and engaged philanthropy. 25 Years of Change featured appearances by global change-makers in the world of human rights including Linda Sarsour, the Co-Chair of the Women’s March on Washington and Regan Ralph, the CEO of the Fund for Global Human Rights, alongside performances by David Byrne, Joan as Police Woman, and Bounce Castle.
We were excited to have members of the STALKR team in attendance, namely Lauren Wackell, Maureen Cavanaugh, and Colleen Cavanaugh Anthony (pictured below), to ring in another year of insightful and important work from WITNESS. View the film above and learn more about WITNESS’ mission here.
